WHO\WHAT\WHY\HOW?
I thought it would be fun to profile one of the Megatouch employees for you, the readers. I wanted to get inside their brain and see what goes on, and discover what they really think about life, love, and the art of making touchscreen video games. Yes, I had grand visions of how this would all go down, and the wealth of knowledge I’d obtain from these mysterious beings that I call co-workers. The only question was- who do I start with? Who is lucky enough and interesting enough to be the guinea pig for this whole hilarious endeavor? I thought it over and decided that Mr. Rob Fortin was the perfect candidate not only because he hails from lovely Omaha, Nebraska (people really DO live there!), but also because he was the lead programmer on our just-released iPad game Rock Mahjong HD. What is this game you say? It’s awesome, and you can get it here.
Anyway, back to our employee spotlight. How did I pull this off? Well, I gave Rob a long list of questions, and 3 weeks to answer them. What follows are his answers, and sometimes lengthier, more detailed explanations from myself and fellow Content Developer, Lacey- who also happens to be Rob’s roommate (Score!). Apparently, Rob is a man of few words, and that is not OK for our blog. We only accept high glitz, extreme sarcasm, and fantasy fiction so obscure no one will ever understand it. We can handle a lot, but we just don’t do boring.
THIS IS ROB:
THE QUESTIONS:
1. My name is: Rob Fortin
[OK, not all of my questions are winners. This one probably won't make the cut next time. Are you still with me?]
2. I’ve worked at Megatouch since: May of 2008, so it’s been over 3 years now
[Actually, at the time of writing this blog post, it has been 3 years, 6 months, 25 days, 1 hour, and about 46 minutes. Thanks mathcats!]
3. A typical day at work consists of: The correct answer here would be sitting at my desk, working on an exciting new touchscreen game for the upcoming release. But I also get to talk with my friends and work with the artist and designers on how the game’s going to play, which is one thing I really like about the job.
[Yes, Rob- that would be the correct answer, if I was your boss and I was doing your annual review, but I'm not and so this answer is suspect. Just kidding! Rob is a model employee. Rob, please don't kill me.]
4. The first Megatouch game I worked on was: Trivia Whiz 2
5. My favorite Megatouch game (new or old) is: Jackpot Corner, although I might be biased because I also worked on it.
6. If I won a free trip anywhere in the world, I would go to: Japan. I have always wanted to go there.
[Unsure about the validity of this answer, I conferred with Lacey who backed up Rob's desire to get Lost in Translation by saying he "probably would go to Japan because he does have a lot of Japanese stuff". I stand corrected.]
7. When I was in high school, I spent most of my time: Hanging out with my friends or at some random part time job.
[I'm guessing these part time jobs were for the CIA, and that's why he won't get into any more detail about it, and I'm sticking with that because it's cool. Although Lacey didn't know Rob in high school, she suspects he spent his time "playing video games, listening to Insane Clown Posse and bleaching his hair."]
8. On the weekends you can find me: At the game store hanging out with some friends or sitting on my couch watching TV or playing a game on my XBox.
[This just seems like a safe answer. Surely he gets up to no good on the weekends... right? No keggers? No all-night gaming sessions? Well, I asked Lacey and she told me that Rob really does spend a lot of time at "the game store." which she described as "kind of like a comic book store with no comic books, and 2 huge tables for playing Warhammer... and boxes of stuff... that you can buy." I'm new to the whole Warhammer thing, but I did some research (OK, I looked on wikipedia) and found this. Doesn't help though, I'm still confused. No, that's OK- I don't think I need a more detailed explanation, I'm afraid I already know too much.]

Warhammer= totally complicated
9. I can’t go a day without: I guess I would say TV. I’m somewhat of a junkie, and even if I’m not watching it, I like to have it on.
10. The best TV show of all time is: TV is a technological advance that can’t be explained by man so the only answer has to be `Ancient Aliens`.
11. The best piece of advice I’ve ever received is: If you truly love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.
[So true. And while Rob has found his peace here at Megatouch, I'm still holding out for that Professional TV watching\ napping on the couch position. WHO'S WITH ME?]
12. My favorite song right now is: `Whatever Doesn’t Kill Me` by Finger Eleven
[I have never heard of them either. Perhaps this music is popular in Rob's hometown, I have no idea. Also, Facebook is telling me that Rob is now listening to `If I Should Die` by Jay-Z on Spotify, so maybe all hope isn't lost. I do love the Big Brother-ness of Facebook.]

Rob's cat Tommy didn't have anything to add to this post except for this swag pic of himself.
13. I’d like people to know that: Programmers are people too, just don’t don’t get them wet or feed them after midnight.
[Very cute Rob, but if that's every programmer's excuse for not showering, I'm not buying it.]
14. I think this survey was: Fun
–So, if you have any further questions for Rob, leave them in the Comments. He may stop back to answer them once he’s done discussing various stage-by-stage painting methods for his Lizardmen Saurus Warriors… or something like that… I still don’t get it.

Aliens. I love it.
I did hang out with Rob in high school, and you’re right; it involved ICP.
Wren!!!!! I would say there was more sublime and green day then icp.
Fantastic insight into of the great megatouch developers! But only because jackpot corner is the best game ever( because of the art ).
